I was feeling pretty good by the time I got to my second class. We took a different approach to our conversation today, with my teacher giving us each a slip of paper with something we had to talk about. Mine said, "You're taking a bike ride around Rome. Describe what you see." So, you know, I was talking about riding down the streets, seeing both Italians and foreigners, lots of souvenir shops and clothing shops and the like, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Circus Maximus... and of course, getting gelato. This spawned a 20-minute discussion about where the best gelato was in Rome and different kinds of gelato different places are known for, which spiraled into desserts of all kinds, with my Swiss classmate talking about chocolate places where she lives... we had all made ourselves quite hungry by the end of that lesson! (So, naturally, I had to stop by and get some gelato after class.)
For as nice as it was all day (we actually saw the sun for the first time in ages), it started raining ten minutes before we got out. And, of course, I had forgotten my umbrella, because it was still hanging in the shower, where I'd put it after walking home in the rain yesterday. Fortunately, it wasn't raining hard. Actually, something weird I've noticed- you would think that when it's raining, the buses would be even more crowded than normal. That's certainly how it works at Ohio State, with people who would normally be walking trying to get out of the rain. Instead, the buses the past few days have been almost empty! I'm not complaining; it was just surprising.
I actually finished my homework early, but since my roommates had other plans and it was still grey and rainy, I just stayed in again. It sounds like it's supposed to get nice soon... I certainly hope so!
