A Room of One's Own

It was SO nice to sleep in this morning. I strongly dislike getting up early, so it was lovely to wake up, check the time, and say, "Eh, back to sleep."

For my first weekend at the apartment, Bart and Isabel decided to go to Florence to visit my predecessor (who had my room before me). I'm sure they wouldn't have said no had I asked to go, but they didn't really invite me, so I didn't want to intrude. Instead, I got the place to myself all day, and should have it until sometime tomorrow evening.

So what did I do with all my free time? Go shopping? Buy out a gelato stand?

As it happened, I stayed in and watched TV and may or may not have had a Disney karaoke session. Basically, it was my typical Saturday, except in an apartment in Rome instead of in my room at home. (Hey, that rhymes! I'm a poet, and I didn't even know it.) It rained, so I didn't particularly fancy going out, but it should be nice and cool tomorrow. It sure is nice now! If it isn't too nasty, I'll probably explore the nearby streets. Gelato, definitely.

I had a pretty decent Wi-Fi connection this afternoon, so I talked to my family. They are living the highlight of the year: Yard work! I'm so not sorry I'm missing that.

That's about all I've got for today. Not the most exciting day of the trip, but a nice one all the same.

  1. It is true, because it rhymes... The Lego Movie.

  2. Ok, so The Lego Movie wasn't as terrible as it sounded - it was actually quite good!
